Recently, there has been a battle inside Ukraine. Councilman Kira k publicly questioned President sky's representation,He bluntly said that he "has no right to give up any Ukrainian territory" and that even if he signs any agreement, the country will not accept it.
In a statement on August 19, Rudek said that Zelensky had previously mentioned the possibility of handing a portion of the Donbass region over to Russia, which was “completely out of touch with reality.” He also stressed that Ukraine “will not give up an inch on the territorial issue.”
She spoke fairly frankly: "Zelensky can make any promises, but he has no authority whatsoever to decide to hand over his territory to Russia, nor will anyone allow him to do so."She further questioned whether Zelensky could really represent the whole country. "We are a democracy,"Rudy said, “There is no law that gives the president the right to sign such agreements alone.”
The reason for this is that Rudyck is not an ordinary politician, and she is able to enter the Supreme Radar (that is, the Ukrainian parliament). It is directly related to her active participation in the "Place Revolution" in 2014.She stood up and spoke, representing not just personal opinions.
But the day after her speech, on August 20, Zelensky expressed a completely different stance. He insists on himself as the head of state and has the right to negotiate with Trump and Putin, including territorial issues. The whole wave was actually closely linked to a key meeting. On August 18, Zelensky went to the White House to meet Trump.
One detail of the talks was remarkable, with Trump showing him a map that marked the Russian-controlled eastern and southeastern regions with striking colors.
Zelensky retorted at the time: "This map is too exaggerated!"He stressed that the area actually controlled by Russia is far less than that shown on the map. According to intelligence, Russia currently controls about 10% to 15% of Ukraine's territory, but Trump's map looks to exceed 20%.This difference is not only about facts, but more likely to affect the basis of subsequent negotiations.
In an interview with CNN outside the White House, Zelensky said he was ready to meet Putin “unconditionally” and talk in any form.
He said: "I will accept any form."That is, as long as Putin wills, the two can sit down and talk at any time, no longer putting any prerequisites, and even a ceasefire is no longer a necessary condition. This shift has been interpreted by many by Zhenzensky wanting to fight for the initiative of negotiation, but there are also people who feel, He was forced by domestic and foreign pressure to soften his stance.
Trump played a key role throughout the process. During the talks, he told Zelensky without hiding: “War can end if you want to end it, but if you don’t want to compromise it can continue.”
He also sent a clearer message that Ukraine "absolutely cannot enter NATO" and reminded that "some things will never change." These remarks almost cut off Ukraine's illusions. After the meeting, Trump also revealed that if progress goes smoothly, the U.S.-Russia tripartite may sit down and talk.He said he had "indirect contacts" with Putin and intended to call him soon.
Councillor Ruddick was not alone in his warning. As early as August 12, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kuleba stated his position when meeting reporters with his Czech Foreign Minister, Ukraine must not make any concessions to Russia. He stressed that without Ukraine’s involvement in negotiations, there is no power to decide the fate of Ukraine; just as without Europe’s involvement, there is no power to decide the future of Europe.
On the same day, Ukrainian Parliament Speaker Stefanchuk also made it clear on social media: “Territorial integrity cannot be negotiated.”He also noted that the German side is very clear that no peace process can be achieved without Ukraine.
Zelensky also revealed a timeline after his return from Washington that Ukraine’s security plan will be formally documented in the next ten days, which could include military, weapons, personnel training, intelligence support, and so on. It also includes strategic security commitments negotiated with countries such as the United States.Only with this support will Ukraine be able to pull Russia back to the negotiating table.
The President of the European Commission, Mr. Von der Leyen, once again expressed his solidarity with Ukraine. She said the EU continued to believe in "peace by force" and insisted on "preserving Ukraine's territorial integrity".The EU also supported Ukraine's preservation of existing military forces, free of restrictions. To further pressure Russia, the EU has been preparing for the 19th round of sanctions.
According to U.S. Special Envoy Witkov, Putin is willing to take a series of measures, including no longer making new territorial claims and accepting U.S. security guarantees for Ukraine similar to NATO’s Article 5. “As long as Zelensky agrees to a ceasefire, Russia will no longer invade the rest of Ukraine.”
On the territorial issue, Russia's position also seems to be making subtle adjustments. Four people familiar with the talks revealed that Putin proposed a new plan, in which Russia would be willing to freeze the front lines of Khersson and Zaporozhye if Ukrainian troops withdraw from Donetsk and Luhansk.
Some analysts believe that Putin may be “retreating forward” and making concessions in exchange for practical control of Donetsk, which can show domestic results and reduce the cost of war.
The whole thing reflects the complicated situation facing Ukraine. From Trump's controversial map, to Zelensky's sudden willingness to see Putin unconditionally, to Parliament's high-profile ban on territorial concessions, everything is not simple.
Kira Rudik’s remarks are therefore not only a warning to the president, but also to the international community that any territorial agreement will face tremendous resistance in Ukrainian domestic politics.
