Chinese uncle Bangkok gold shop stole 110,000 baht gold bracelet! Hotel arrested before attempting to return home

On October 12, according to Thai media reports, the Thai police notified a Chinese man for theft of gold and jewelry.

The case began on the afternoon of October 8, when the owner of a gold store in Bangkok to the police that a gold bracelet weighing 2 gold coins (about 30.4 grams) was found missing when it was in stock, worth approximately 11.28,000 baht. A monitoring video appeared that the same day at 11.08 a.m., a Chinese-speaking man entered the store pretending to buy gold jewelry. During the process, he quietly grabbed a bracelet with his left hand, then wrapped in the pants, hid the gold inside the clothes and left.

After police investigators collected videos and witness testimony, they identified the suspect as a China man who stayed at the Tri Mitr Road Hotel. The police immediately applied for an arrest warrant and launched surveillance. At 17:30 on October 10, the investigation team found the suspect in the hotel lobby. They showed his ID on the spot and read out the arrest warrant. A Chinese interpreter assisted in communication throughout the process. The police took him back to the police station for further investigation.

During the interrogation, Li said he was from Hunan Province, China, and admitted that he had been to the gold store to see jewelry, but denied theft and was willing to compensate for losses. Police found that he entered Thailand almost every month and stayed no more than three days each. On the day of the incident he carried two sets of clothes and was ready to return directly to China after leaving the gold store.
