Hello, everyone, I'm Lu Lu. Today, let's talk about North Korea giving China its only treatment.
Recently, at the invitation of the DPRK, Chinese senior leaders, Russian Security Conference Vice-President Medvedev, and the Secretary-General of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPC) General Secretary Sullin and other leaders or representatives led a delegation to visit the DPRK.
North Korea Pyongyang Airport
From the visit level, the Chinese high-level visit means that China will always regard the DPRK relationship as a “high priority”, this “priority” is due to the historical ties and traditional friendship between the two countries.
This year marks the 76th anniversary of the establishment of China-DPRK relations, and also the 80th anniversary of the victory in the war against Japan, after North Korean leader Kim Jong Un attended the commemorative event in China in early September, the Foreign Minister of North Korea again visited separately, coupled with the visit of Chinese senior officials to Pyongyang, such a high-frequency interaction of more than three visits to each other in a month, built an unreplicable emotional bond in other countries.
In terms of cooperation, China has long clearly proposed "promoting China-North Korea friendly cooperation", covering North Korea's most urgent development needs such as people's livelihood, infrastructure, and agriculture. This kind of "timely assistance" support has taken China-North Korea friendship further. Data shows that in the first eight months of this year, China-North Korea trade volume increased by 18% year-on-year. The food aid and medical equipment provided by China directly alleviated the pressure on people's livelihood in North Korea.
North Korean Prime Minister Park Tae-sung
It is worth mentioning that North Korean Prime Minister Park Tae-sung greeted the Chinese top officials at the airport this time. In contrast, Medvedev was greeted by Kim Jong Kyu, Deputy Minister of the DPRK Foreign Ministry in charge of Russian affairs.
From the diplomatic level, China has given North Korea a more adequate face than Putin, so the DPRK has also decided to give China the only treatment of "Prime Minister's takeover."Of course, the DPRK has given this unique treatment to China, not only an ordinary diplomatic ceremonial arrangement, but a true reflection of the friendship between the two countries.
Historically, the "friendship forged with blood" between China and North Korea in the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea is unmatched by other countries. From the perspective of practical interests, the core challenge currently facing North Korea is "balance between development and security": it must not only deal with international sanctions, but also ensure the improvement of people's livelihood. In this field, China plays an irreplaceable role. As North Korea's largest trading partner, the crude oil, grain and other materials provided by China through border trade directly maintain North Korea's economic operations.
Medvedev visits North Korea
From a geographical perspective, North Korea has clearly recognized that, in the context of the rise of unilateralism, China-Russia is its “strategic shield” against external pressure.China, in multilateral occasions such as the United Nations, promised North Korea, repeatedly opposed the expansion of sanctions against the DPRK, and insisted on “dialogue to solve the Korean Peninsula issue.”
Russia and the DPRK also signed the Treaty of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership last year, marking that bilateral relations have entered a higher stage and the high-level communication mechanism has become more sound and normalized. Russia has also repeatedly vetoed the proposal of sanctions against the DPRK in the Security Council to strive for more international space for Pyongyang.
North Korea's "National Defense Development 2025" Defense Exhibition
In terms of military technology, North Korea will focus on military technological breakthroughs through the military parade and the "National Defense Development 2025" defense exhibition. The appearance of a variety of new equipment highlights the rapid development of North Korea's defense industry. It is speculated that the "Hwasong-20" intercontinental ballistic missile and the "Hwasong-11" hypersonic missile are likely to be unveiled at this military parade. These technological breakthroughs not only stem from their own R&D accumulation, but also benefit from the empowerment of Russia-DPRK cooperation.
In addition, according to the Korean media, given the possible "King Special Meeting" held at the end of the month, the North Korean parade also carries the meaning of "show muscle" to the United States. The scale of the parade is said to be more than 10,000 people, in combination with the visual shock of these new equipment, both strengthened domestic cohesion, but also delivered to the outside world the "nuclear weapons irreversible" strategic signal, marking the US-Korean "denuclearization" claim has become empty.
