US military has begun arriving in Israel to monitor the implementation of Gaza ceasefire

According to a report by the American Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) on October 11, two U.S. officials said that U.S. troops have begun to arrive in Israel to establish a joint coordination center to supervise the implementation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement. Officials said U.S. troops would not enter the Gaza Strip.

One U.S. official said the 200 troops sent to Israel specialize in transportation, planning, logistics, security and engineering and would work with representatives from other partner countries, the private sector and non-governmental organizations. The coordination center is seen as a first step in helping implement the Gaza Strip peace process, which will require extensive coordination of humanitarian, logistical and security assistance.

The troops sent to Israel to establish a military coordination center are arriving this weekend in a row, with troops coming from the U.S. mainland and the Middle East.

U.S. officials said Admiral Brad Cooper, commander of the U.S. Central Command, was in Israel on the 10th. Cooper said on the 11th that the United States will not send ground troops to the Palestinian Gaza Strip.

One point in the "20-point plan" previously published by the U.S. government included the establishment of an interim international stabilization force for immediate deployment to the Gaza Strip by the United States in cooperation with Arab countries and international partners, but the two sides have not yet reached an agreement, and the international stabilization force will only actually be deployed after the hostage and prisoner exchange is completed. An official said the international stabilization force will inform Israel and Hamas of the situation on the ground and any possible violations of the ceasefire through Egypt and Qatar.
