Patrick Herminie elected sixth president of Seychelles

According to the statistics of the voting results of various constituencies released by the Seychelles Election Commission in the early morning of October 12th, local time, Patrick Herminie, the candidate of the United Seychelles Party, won more than half of the votes in the second round of the country's presidential election held from October 9th to 11th, defeating the current President Ram Karawang and was elected as the sixth president of Seychelles.

According to the Seychelles Constitution, the term of office of the president is five years and can be re-elected for one term. Patrick Heminey, 62, has served as chairman of the Seychelles National Assembly.
