Ghana President Mahama arrives in Beijing to attend Global Women's Summit

On the evening of October 11th, John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, arrived in Beijing by plane. He will attend the Global Women's Summit to be held in Beijing from October 13th to 14th.

Ghana is one of the first countries in sub-Saharan Africa to establish diplomatic relations with China and is also an important strategic partner of China in Africa. The governments of China and Ghana are committed to continuously narrowing the gender gap and promoting gender equality and the all-round development of women. On this year's African Women's Day, Ghana also held a high-level national launch meeting for the Affirmative Action (Gender Equality) Act, the passage of which opened a new chapter in Ghana's commitment to promoting gender equality, inclusive governance and social transformation.

This year, the United Nations Human Rights Council held relevant meetings to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action by the Fourth World Conference on Women held in 1995. The representative of Ghana said in his speech that the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action have provided important guidance for the global promotion of gender equality and the development of women and girls 'rights, and have become a key cornerstone for the international community's joint pursuit of equality and justice.
