Turkey's ruling party: discussing sending troops to Gaza Strip

Abdullah Guler, chairman of the parliamentary group of the Turkish ruling Justice and Development Party, said on the 11th that the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other departments are discussing sending Turkish troops to the Palestinian Gaza Strip, and the relevant proposals will be submitted to the Parliament for review after improvement.

In an interview with the Turkish broadcaster headquarters news channel the same day, Gulir said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defense and the National Intelligence Agency were discussing the details of sending troops to the Gaza Strip, but the issue did not include a ceasefire and follow-up arrangements.

He added that the plan is currently in its very early stages, with proposals to be determined according to the specific situation and timing, and submitted by President Erdogan to the Greater National Assembly for consideration.

Turkey is one of the mediators of the new round of ceasefire negotiations in Gaza. Erdogan said on the 9th that Turkey will join the special working group to monitor the actual implementation of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza to ensure that the terms of the agreement are fully implemented.

The “20-point plan” announced by the White House includes a future deployment of a temporary “international stability force” in the Gaza Strip, but the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has resisted international regulation and the deployment of peacekeeping forces.
