Breaking-News >> WorldNews Kenya Media: Global Women Summit Reveals China's Strong Commitment to Promote Women's Rights Globally
Xinhua News Agency, Nairobi, October 11 (Reporter Yan Yujing) Kenya's mainstream media "Star" published an article by Kenyan international relations scholar Cavins Adhill on the 10th, saying that as the goal of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development approaches, China stands at the forefront of advocating gender equality and will host the Global Women's Summit in Beijing from October 13th to 14th. This landmark summit highlights China's firm commitment to advancing women's rights globally. The summary of the article is as follows: The summit will not only celebrate historic progress in women's development, but will also chart the way forward amid continuing challenges such as economic disparities and the impact of climate change on vulnerable groups. For China, this is not only a diplomatic milestone, but also a reflection of its domestic transformation. Gender equality has evolved from a revolutionary slogan to a cornerstone of national policy and social progress. Since 1949, the Communist Party of China (CPC) has always positioned women as "half the sky" and integrated the enhancement of women's rights and interests into the process of socialist modernization. The development model of Chinese women has undergone fundamental changes. China has continuously formulated and implemented the outline of special plans for women's development, defined phased goals, systematic and solid policies and measures to protect women, and incorporated women's rights into a broader human rights framework. Indeed, the global narrative of female empowerment is being rewritten, no longer as a single narrative of Western feminism, but rather as an interweaving of multiple struggles and triumphs. Across the Indian Ocean, Kenyan women are writing their own remarkable stories of empowerment, characterized by a powerful combination of grassroots activism and constitutional innovation. Kenyan women have long been the backbone of the economy. In this new narrative, the parallel journeys of women in China and Kenya are emerging as powerful and interconnected legends of progress, stories of mutual inspiration and shared pursuit of a fairer future. China’s domestic success model laid the foundation for its path to leading global women’s development, through bilateral exchanges and exporting expertise. A typical example is the thriving Kenyan Women’s Partnership, which was enhanced during Kenyan President William Ruto’s state visit to China in April this year. In the context of its commitment to building a Kenyan Fate Community, the two countries pledged to deepen humanitarian exchanges, including women and youth exchanges within the framework of the China African Cooperation Forum. These initiatives built on decades of cooperation, covering many areas such as scholarships and vocational training, have achieved remarkable results. Through deepening channels of Kenya-China cooperation, women of the two countries are finding common goals. They not only exchange goods and skills, but also exchange ideas, strategies and inspiration. They gradually realized that the path to achieving gender equality is multi-faceted, requiring both strong institutional construction and a strong voice.
