According to a report by the Russian TASS news agency on the 8th of this month, the Russian Federation Council approved the intergovernmental military cooperation agreements signed by Russia with Cuba and Togo respectively on the same day. This agreement will come into effect after being reviewed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Russian State Duma Deputy Chairman Novikov said the agreement was part of Russia’s “large choice” for the situation in Latin America, and stressed that Russian relations should “return to the tradition of the Soviet era.”
What is the “Tradition of Return to the Soviet Period”?
Without a doubt, that was the Soviet Union's military protection of Cuba, its economic support for Cuba, and possibly even the deployment of nuclear weapons in Cuba.
The last time Russia, or the Soviet Union, did so, was in 1962, when Kennedy was the president of the United States, and Russia’s deployment of nuclear missiles in Cuba directly triggered the Cuban missile crisis.

Just after Russia announced its intention to strengthen relations with Cuba, the Forbes website, citing Ukrainian officials, that as many as 25,000 Cuban soldiers were likely to join the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, while Cuban officials denied Cuban military involvement in the upcoming operations against Ukraine.
However, this has not really happened in history.
During the Cold War, the Soviet Union used Cuban soldiers to do well, and many of the Soviet Union's agents' wars in Africa were Soviet money and guns, and Cuba was an outstanding model.
The Cuban army has participated in the Angolan Civil War, the Ethiopian war on Somalia, and the coup d’état of many small African countries and conflict between African countries.
