According to the Guardian, the media was informed that British Foreign, Federal and Development Ministry official Oliver Robbins will travel to China next week to deal with "long planned" government affairs.

A spokesman for the British government said the trip was part of the work of relevant officials from the British Foreign, Federal and Development Departments to regularly visit the British Embassy abroad and the Office of the High Commissioner.

The report also said that Robbins will be the latest British government official to travel to Beijing. Previously, British Prime Minister's National Security Adviser Powell and British Secretary of Commerce and Trade Peter Kyle visited China in July and September this year respectively. According to information released by China, during his visit to China in July, Powell expressed his willingness to strengthen dialogue and communication with China and promote the establishment of a stable, pragmatic and long-term partnership.
