Russian Union-5 rocket first level ground fire test successfully

Russia's National Space Group on October 10 announced that the first-level ground firing test of the new Russian rocket "Alliance-5" was successful.

The Russian National Aerospace Group stated on the social media "Telegram" that the "Soyuz-5" rocket is equipped with an RD-171MV engine with a thrust of 800 tons. It completed the first-stage ground ignition test at the Rocket and Aerospace Industry Scientific Test Center that day. The test lasted for 160 seconds.

Russia's National Space Group said the test would lay the foundation for the launch of the "Alliance-5" rocket scheduled for the end of the year.

Russia's "Izvestia" said on the 10th that as part of the "Baitelek" project between Russia and Kazakhstan, "Soyuz-5" is a medium-sized launch vehicle under development, which can send 17 tons of payload into low Earth orbit. The first launch of the rocket is planned to be carried out in Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan in late December this year, and it is expected to be fully put into operation in 2028. It will mainly be used to launch unmanned spacecraft into low Earth orbit.
