Court documents show US government plans to lay off more than 4,000 jobs

On October 10 local time, CCTV reporters learned that the U.S. Department of Justice issued a court document that evening. Documents show that seven agencies have begun issuing layoff notices to more than 4000 employees: the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Education, the Department of Energy, the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Department of Finance. Among them, the Ministry of Health and Human Services and the Ministry of Finance plan to lay off more people, with 1100 to 1200 employees and 1446 employees respectively.

It is reported that the court document is in response to an emergency motion filed by two unions, the American Federation of Government Employees and the American Federation of Labor-Federation of Industrial Unions, which are suing the government for mass layoffs during the "shutdown".
