According to the National Earthquake Center of the University of Chile, an earthquake of magnitude 7.8 occurred in the Strait of Drake between South America and Antarctica on the 10th. The Chilean Navy's Hydrology and Oceanic Administration's tsunami warning department issued an early warning that the earthquake could trigger a low-intensity tsunami.
According to the National Seismological Center of the University of Chile, the earthquake occurred at 17: 29 local time on the 10th (4: 29 Beijing time on the 11th). The epicenter was located 263 kilometers northwest of President Eduardo Frei Montalva's Antarctic base in Chile, with a focal depth of 10 kilometers. No casualties and property damage have been reported.

The Strait of Drake is located between the Southern End of South America and the Southern Seychelles in Antarctica, connecting the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, 300 km long east and 900-950 km wide north and south.
