In October in Pyongyang, flags hunted and gun salutes shocked the sky.
The Chinese delegation arrived in North Korea early on October 9 to attend the congress celebrating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Korean Labour Party and was personally welcomed by General Kim on the same day.
These eight words are not words of improvisation, but a political adjustment, a reaffirmation of China’s friendship, trust and security in the turbulent geographical pattern.
The four words “not to be broken” are very important in North Korea’s political language system and are not a set of words, but “the highest quality” used to express unconditional trust and long-term cooperation.
During this trip, the Chinese representative brought congratulations and sent a clear signal to continue to deepen traditional friendship. General Kim responded with "unbreakable", which is a reciprocal diplomatic expression and a symbol of strategic tacit understanding.
The eight words, both hope and oath, look back on the history of blood and fire, from fighting side by side against the United States to long-term political mutual trust; it vows the direction of the future, in the moment of the international situation, the two sides will continue to stabilize each other at the strategic height.
In addition to his unbreakable statements, General Kim also puts the consolidation of China-North Korea relations on the North Korean government's unwavering position to deal with. General Kim also spoke of adhering to the one-China principle, opposing "Taiwan independence", in the Hong Kong, Zhejiang, and Tibet issues, consistent with the Chinese position.
In the decades since the end of the Cold War, this celebration can be called the highest-level diplomatic activity in North Korea. It is widely believed that it is not only a commemorative ceremony, but also a public expression of national positioning.
North Korea’s intention is very clear: it wants to jump out of the “isolated” narrative and turn to the role of a “regional key node.”
The military parade is a form, and behind the form is a signal. This signal has two levels:
First, internally, it is to gather the will of the nation and demonstrate institutional confidence; second, it is to tell the world that North Korea is not a marginal participant, but an active shaper of the regional situation.
High-level diplomatic activities are the norm of big countries; North Korea's move today is to declare to the outside world that "I can also speak at this level."
It should be noted that "DPRK-China relations are unbreakable" is not a casual statement by Kim Jong-un. These eight words appear only twice in his diplomatic dictionary: once to China and once to Russia.
For the Chinese side, these four words are a continuation of emotions, have a thick, historical temperature; for the Russian side, these four words are the oath of friends of war, shoulder to shoulder with pressure, full of real intensity.
In June 2024, the Russian DPRK signed the "Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership", and General Kim referred to "unbreakable friendship and alliance relations" in the phone.
"Time flies, friends are still company, and enemies shrink and tremble." Medvedev also publicly thanked North Korea for its support in Russia's special military operation.
If Kim’s “unbreakable” signal to China is a fundamental signal of stability, then the “unbreakable” signal to Russia is a real declaration in the opposing system.
When General Kim said that "DPRK-China relations are unbreakable," he was not only expressing his emotions, but also reaffirming a security logic. He wants to tell the world: "I have historical friends and practical partners."
China-DPRK relations are the fulcrum of stability and development; Russia-DPRK relations are the line of defense against pressure and survival. The superposition of the two constitutes the current diplomatic coordinates of North Korea. After all, in this uncertain world, North Korea should support its certainty with certain friendship.
