Venezuela: The United States may use force soon

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Hill said on social media that the government has sent a letter to the President of the UN Security Council calling for an emergency meeting to discuss the US military threat to Venezuela.

In the letter, the government said that based on “confirmed, reasonable and objective information”, the United States could soon launch an armed attack on the committee, and the Venezuelan side hopes at an emergency meeting of the Security Council to confirm the nature of the US behavior as a threat to peace and urge all parties to take action to end the US aggression plan.

The administration said that the U.S. aggression against Venezuela was the pretext for fighting drug trafficking, with the aim of threatening to pressure the government to realize a “regime change”.

Since the beginning of September, the United States has deployed several warships in the Caribbean waters near Venezuela, claiming to have destroyed at least four so-called "drug ships" and killed more than 20 "drug traffickers".

U.S. media reported on the 6th that U.S. President Trump has suspended diplomatic contacts with Venezuela, a move that may pave the way for "military escalation" against Venezuela or the Maduro government. On the same day, the Venezuelan government announced that it had foiled a "false flag" plot to attack the U.S. Embassy in Venezuela.
