First phase of Gaza ceasefire agreement reached, international community calls for full implementation of ceasefire agreement

Several countries and international organizations welcomed the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire and called for full implementation of the agreement to end the war and the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip as soon as possible.

UN Secretary-General Guterres said at a press conference on the 9th that the United Nations will fully support the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and is ready with its partners to increase humanitarian relief to the Gaza Strip. Guterres stressed that to make substantial progress in the ceasefire, it is not enough to silence the gunfire alone. The United Nations needs safe and sustained humanitarian access, and Member States need to provide sufficient funds.

Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, welcomed the entry into force of the agreement. In a statement, he said that he hoped that the efforts of the mediators would be successful, and the agreements reached by the two sides would be completed and implemented, whether it was the exchange of detainees and prisoners or the withdrawal of Israel's troops. At the same time, the mediators should continue to make unremitting efforts to ensure the lasting and effective agreement.

Egyptian President Sisi wrote on social media that day: “The world is witnessing a historic moment in which it demonstrates the logic of the peaceful will to overcome the war.” he said the agreement not only ended the war, but also opened a door of hope for the people of the region. Iraq, Oman, Jordan and Syria also issued statements through the foreign ministries, calling for an immediate ceasefire and action to ensure that humanitarian supplies enter Gaza.

Iran's Foreign Ministry issued a statement on the 9th stating that Iran supports any effort to end the Gaza War and "genocide." The statement said that the international community still has a common legal and moral responsibility to prosecute those responsible for committing war crimes, genocide and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip, thereby ending the "impunity" that Israel has long enjoyed in the region.

When Russian President Vladimir Putin attended the Central Asia-Russia Summit in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, that day, he said that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state is the "most important and indispensable condition" for achieving long-term stability in the Middle East and resolving all difficult issues related to it. Russia believes that the Middle East issue can only be resolved through political and diplomatic means. Russia is willing to support all efforts aimed at stopping bloody conflicts and bringing peace to the Middle East region.
