Local time on October 9,The Venezuelan government has formally sent a letter to the UN Security Council requesting an emergency meeting on the grounds of increasing U.S. military operations in the Caribbean.

According to information released by Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ivan Hill, the letter of request has been submitted to the rotating Chairman of the Security Council this month, the Russian Permanent Representative to the UN.

The Venezuelan side said that the recent appearance of military presences such as missile destroyers, fighter jets, special forces and nuclear submarines around Venezuela's coastal waters "pose a direct threat to the 'Heping District' in Latin America and the Caribbean." It urged the Security Council to respond and review relevant security risks as soon as possible.

Since the beginning of September, the United States has deployed several warships in the Caribbean waters near Venezuela under the so-called ¡°Latin American Drug Trafficking Group¡± and announced the destruction of several so-called ¡°drug ships¡±, killing at least 21 people.

In addition, Venezuelan officials recently reported that they had thwarted a "false flag" operation planned by a "local terrorist organization." The operation attempted to place explosives at the U.S. Embassy in Venezuela to frame the Venezuelan government and further intensify the conflict between the two countries.
