According to reports, on April 13, 2023, the China-Laos Railway will operate international passenger trains, with one train in both directions every day from Kunming South and Vientiane Stations. In order to meet the cross-border travel needs of passengers, in July this year, an additional pair of international passenger trains was opened between Kunming and Vientiane on the China-Laos Railway. The number of international passenger trains between Kunming and Vientiane has increased to four per day.

It is understood that the railway department has established an international passenger ticket purchase "special window" along the railway station in China, opened the bank card payment function in the 13 passenger stations abroad and supported a variety of foreign passenger documents to buy tickets, and provided cash services for RMB; at the same time, improved the functionality of the Laos passenger ticket system, expanded the internet ticket payment method, benefiting travelers from all countries.

Since the beginning of this year, China-Laos railway passenger travel has maintained strong demand. As of October 8, a total of 15.48 million passengers have been sent, a year-on-year increase of 2.38%. Among them, there were nearly 200,000 cross-border passengers, a year-on-year increase of 3.17%.
