Einstein's violin sold for more than one million pounds at auction

A violin used by albert einstein, a master of science, was auctioned in England recently, and the price after counting commission exceeded 1 million pounds (1 pound is about 9.54 yuan).

According to BBC News, the violin was produced in 1894, and is believed to be Einstein's first violin. In 1932, he presented the violin to his friend, the physicist, Max von Lloyd, who soon emigrated to the United States to avoid Nazi persecution. Twenty years later, von Lloyd gave the violin to his relatives, and also to Margaret Homer, a fan of Einstein. The violin was later handed over to Homer's granddaughter, who commissioned Dominic Winter in Gloucestershire, England, to auction for an estimated £300,000.

Chris Aubry, a senior auctioneer at the auction agency, said that three people were on a telephone bidding and the violin was dropped for £86,000 in just about 10 minutes, plus a 26.4% commission after the price exceeded £1 million.

Many people didn't know that playing the violin was one of Einstein's passions, Oberry said. He started learning piano around the age of 4, and has practiced piano almost every day since then. "He always said that if he hadn't become a scientist, he would have been a musician".

Another violin used by Einstein was auctioned in new york, USA in 2018, and sold for $516,500.
