According to Puji media reports, on October 8, a military aircraft landing accident at Thai Puji Airport, fortunately no one was injured, but the incident caused the airport runway to be forced to close, affecting about 30 to 40 flights.
The head of the Phuket Airport told reporters that the crash occurred around 11:20 a.m. on the same day, when a military aircraft was preparing to land at Phuket International Airport, due to failure to drop the landing pad, forcing the aircraft to stop on the runway after landing. Although no one was injured, the aircraft could not move on its own.
Since Phuket Airport has only one runway, the accident forced terminal authorities to immediately suspend all take-off and landing flights in order to allow aircraft removal operations. The cleanup and towing work is expected to take approximately three hours. Authorities have advised flights bound for Phuket to be relocated to alternate airports, such as Krabi Airport, which has the capacity to accept commercial flights.
Currently, there are about 60 domestic and foreign airlines operating flights at Phuket Airport. Relevant departments remind passengers that if flights are delayed or diverted due to accidents, they can apply for compensation from the airline in accordance with relevant laws.
