Turkish President Erdogan said on October 8 that since the start of a new round of Gaza ceasefire negotiations, the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has shown a more constructive stance than Israel, and Israel has not shown similar constructive behavior.

The Turkish Anadolu news agency quoted Erdogan as saying that Turkey will be committed to resolving the Palestinian issue on the basis of the ¡°Two-State Plan¡± and that our primary task is to an immediate and complete ceasefire.

Erdogan said that during his recent visit to the United States and during his recent phone call with US President Trump, he explained to Trump how to reach a solution to the Palestinian issue as soon as possible. The United States asked Turkey to meet with Hamas and persuade Hamas to accept the "20-point plan" proposed by the United States to end the Gaza conflict. He has told the US that Hamas is ready to accept peace talks.

Erdogan also said that regardless of the post-conflict situation, Gaza must continue as a part of the Palestinian State, governed by the Palestinians.

According to reports, a Turkish delegation led by the Director of the Turkish National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Karlin, joined the ongoing Gaza ceasefire negotiations in Egypt on the 8th and before this round of indirect negotiations, Karlin had held talks with U.S., Egyptian and Qatar officials and representatives of Hamas.

Hamas and Israel began a new round of Gaza ceasefire talks on Friday in the Egyptian Red Sea coastal city of Sham Sheik. The talks were conducted in an indirect manner, intermitted by Egypt, Qatar and the United States. According to Egyptian media reports, the talks focused on ¡°building a foundation¡± for a possible exchange between Israeli detainees and Palestinian prisoners.
