A Palestinian source said on October 8 that representatives of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Organization (Jihad) and the Palestinian People's Liberation Front (People's Front) are about to arrive in Egypt to participate in a new round of ceasefire negotiations with the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) delegation.

The source told Xinhua news agency reporters that the negotiating representatives of Jihad and the People's Front will form a delegation, scheduled to arrive in Egypt on the evening of the 8th. They will participate in negotiations with the Hamas delegation, which may be more helpful in resolving the issue of Israeli detainees in Gaza.

Lebanon's "Square" TV station released a video of a speech by Ziad Nahara, Secretary-General of Jihad, on the 8th. Nahara said that he was ready to negotiate the terms of the ceasefire plan proposed by US President Trump.

Since the outbreak of a new round of Israeli conflict in October 2023, Jihad and the Hamas have been involved in operations against Israel. Jihad has also claimed to have detained some Israeli personnel, but did not provide further details.

Hamas and Israel began a new round of Gaza ceasefire negotiations in Sham Sheikh, Egypt on June 6. The negotiations were conducted indirectly, with Egypt, Qatar and the United States intermitting.

According to Israeli media reports, Hamas and Palestinian factions are currently detaining 48 Israelis, 20 of whom Israel believes are still alive.
