The Ukrainian army entered Asia for the first time, opened the second front, and there was no longer a safe zone on the entire territory of Russia.

Who would have thought that Ukraine's long-range attack capabilities had been greatly strengthened in the past three years of war? According to reports from various Russian media and the Ukraine "Kiev Independent", on Monday, the Russian city of Tyumen was invaded by three Ukraine drones.

You know, Tyumen City is more than 2000 kilometers away from the Russian-Ukrainian front line and should have been one of the most unlikely places to hear explosions in this war. However, the sense of distance from war is being completely rewritten, and Russia's Asian territory is no longer safe.

The target of the Ukrainian army is allegedly the Antipynsky refinery in the Russian province of Okymin.

The media noted that it was the first time since the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine that Ukrainian military forces crossed the geographical boundary of the Asia-European continent, the Ural Mountains, deep into the Siberian heartland, to strike the Asian region of Russia.

From the map, the distance between Yuming and the Ukrainian border, equivalent to a straight line from Beijing to Guangzhou, crossed almost the entire Eastern European plains and the Urals, all of which were completed by several drones.

Russian officials responded quite quickly. Local officials claimed on social media that air defense forces shot down three Ukrainian drones over an "industrial facility" in Tyumen.

The Russian side insisted that there were no fires, explosions, and no casualties, and that this standardized response has not been recognized by Western countries.

Another version of the story is that Russian locals heard the explosions between 8 and 9 p.m. and saw several fire cars passing by, and the destination was the Antipinski refinery in the southeastern direction of Qummin.

This refinery is no ordinary facility. It is one of the important oil processing facilities in Siberia.

The Russian Ministry of Emergencies then promptly claimed that there was no fire at the Antipynsk refinery. This urge to clarify, instead, raises more suspicion about the severity of the incident.

It should be pointed out that in 2024, people from all sides are still debating whether Ukrainian drones can threaten targets farther away than Moscow.

Who would have expected that just a year later, Ukrainian drones would be able to fly to Tyumen in Western Siberia.

This attack created multiple "firsts": Ukrainian drones entered Asia for the first time. This is the farthest drone strike record in the Russia-Ukraine war so far, and it also marks Russia's territory of more than 17 million square kilometers., is gradually being included in the strike range of the Ukrainian army.

For Russia, the current situation is quite difficult.Russia once relied on the vast territory and strategic depth, now instead has become an air defense nightmare.

Once a natural barrier, the Ural Mountains have now become a blind spot where drones can quietly cross. To put it bluntly, the problem facing Russian officials is that "Russia is so big, but the air defense system doesn't know how to deploy it."

And the timing of all this happening is quite subtle. Not long ago, Ukraine attacked the Kirich refinery in Leningrad Oblast, causing a fire. That was the third successful attack on the refinery by Ukraine this year.

Combined with previous strikes on the Utah refineries and the Orsk refineries, Ukraine is clearly doing its utmost to destroy Russia and systematically disrupt Russia’s energy infrastructure.

What's even more surprising is that Tyumen didn't even sound the air raid siren when it was attacked by drones.

This is probably not because the alarm system failed, but because the local area simply didn't expect a drone to fly so far. This psychological shock may hit Russia harder than the explosion itself.

It is worth noting that the difficulty of drone long-range strikes lies not only in the range, but also in navigation, target recognition and strike accuracy. Ukraine has clearly made breakthroughs in these areas.

Ukraine's near-term strategy has been very clear: to weaken its war economic base by systematically attacking Russian oil refining facilities.

When the inhabitants of Siberia first truly felt the existence of war, they realized that the war had redefined what was “front” and what was “back.”

People have seen that with the rapid development of long-range cheap weapons such as drones, the land area is no longer equal to absolute strategic security, and the geographical distance is becoming more and more difficult to provide natural protection. The rules of war are being rewritten at an accelerated pace.
