On October 8, local time, the Reserve Bank of New Zealand (BCN) announced that it would lower its benchmark interest rate by 50 basis points from 3.0% to 2.5% in response to weak economic pressures. The Reserve Bank of New Zealand said lower interest rates would help support New Zealand¡¯s domestic economic growth and encourage household consumption and business investment.
