Slovak Prime Minister Accuses EU Attempts to "Total Eliminate" Russia's Energy: Self-Destruction, Moving Stones to Break Its Own Feet

According to Russia Today (RT), Slovak Prime Minister Fico said at the European Nuclear Energy Forum held in Bratislava on October 7 local time that the EU's attempt to exclude Russian energy from its markets is a "self-destructive and dangerous policy".

According to the report, in his opening speech, Fizzo criticized the EU's plan to "completely phase out" Russian energy as "completely absurd". He bluntly said, "We are shooting ourselves in the foot." "I am ready to argue with the European Commission around the clock to make them understand that this is meaningless ideological manipulation."

Fizo also announced plans to build an additional reactor at the Bohunis nuclear power plant. The project will involve U.S. contractors and may attract other countries. He also mentioned that the United States is still purchasing Russian uranium resources.

Previously, Fizzo stated in the National Assembly's questioning session on September 25, local time that Slovakia's imports of energy raw materials from Russia accounted for only 2%. Therefore, Slovakia has not made a substantial contribution to war funding by purchasing Russian energy. He believes that Slovakia's interest lies in maintaining the import of energy raw materials from Russia, because this is the most economical option.

On May 6 local time, the European Commission announced a plan "roadmap" to phase out imports of Russian energy. Information on the European Commission's official website shows that all Russian natural gas imports will be stopped by the end of 2027, and the "roadmap" also imposes restrictions on Russia's oil and nuclear supplies. In response, a spokesman for the Russian Kremlin once responded that Europe was "lifting a stone to shoot itself in the foot."
