The Israel Defense Forces issued a statement on the afternoon of the 7th, saying that Yemen's Houthi armed forces launched four drone attacks on Israel within an hour that day.
According to the statement, four drones were intercepted by the Israeli air defense system. In two of the attacks, drones approached Israeli territory, and air defense alarms sounded at the southernmost coastal city of the Red Sea, Eilat.
Israeli media released video footage of the interception of drones, and explosive smoke appeared over Eilat due to the interception.
Since the outbreak of a new Gaza conflict in October 2023, Houthi armed forces have attacked ships associated with Israel in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden in support of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. Houthi armed forces have also used missiles and drones to target domestic targets on several occasions, while Israel has launched airstrikes on Houthi-controlled areas.
