With Airbus Europe delivering the latest Airbus A320 series aircraft to Saudi Arabia, the series of aircraft delivered exceeded the Boeing 737 series for the first time, becoming the most cumulative aircraft delivered in aviation history.

Airbus A320 passenger aircraft first flew in 1987.According to Reuters reports on 7th, data from aerospace data analytics agency Weiss Reputation showed that since its launch in the market in 1988, Airbus A320 series passenger aircraft have cumulatively delivered 12,260 aircraft, breaking the long-standing record of the Boeing 737 series.

According to Reuters, the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 series passenger aircraft were originally designed for large hub airports, later widely used by low-cost airlines after the 9/11 incident, Boeing company reduced production due to low market demand, Airbus company is actively fighting for low-cost airline customers to expand market share.

The launch of the Boeing 737 series in the 1960s was considered to set the industry standard for narrow-body passenger aircraft. However, in October 2018 and March 2019, two Boeing 737 MAX aircraft crashes followed, resulting in a total of 346 deaths.
