The Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant is located in Voronezh Oblast in western Russia. According to news released by Rosatom on social media on the 7th, a Ukrainian drone attempted to attack the cooling tower of the nuclear power plant from late night on the 6th to early morning on the 7th. When it collided with a cooling tower, it was suppressed by technical means and exploded. The incident caused no damage or loss of people, only leaving black marks on the hit cooling tower. The safe operation of the nuclear power plant is guaranteed, and the background radiation level in the power plant area and surrounding areas has not changed.

According to the news, three units of the new Voronezh nuclear power plant are currently in operation, with one unit undergoing regular maintenance from 4 this month, with a total installed capacity of 2,556 MW.

Russian media reported that not long ago Uzbekistan tried to attack nuclear power plants in Kursk and Smolensk Oblast. Russian President Vladimir Putin recently stated that ensuring the safety of nuclear facilities is Russia's "absolute priority."
