Breaking-News >> WorldNews Qatar Foreign Ministry continues efforts to push for new round of ceasefire negotiations
Qatar Foreign Ministry spokesman Anshari said on October 7 that in the new round of Gaza ceasefire negotiations held in Egypt on 6 October, the parties had several hours of in-depth discussion, the exchange of detainees, access to humanitarian supplies and other detailed arrangements still to be agreed on, and the negotiations are still ongoing. Anshari said at a weekly routine press conference on the same day that as a mediator, Qatar is clear that no solution can apply to all parties, and that it will continue to work with other mediators to push for an end to the conflict. Assari said the reconstruction of Gaza needs international support, but the future of Gaza and its people must be in the hands of the Palestinians, who should have the freedom and right to decide their own future. The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has set up an office in Doha to facilitate Qatar’s mediation, and it is too early to discuss the future of Hamas. According to Egyptian media reports on the 6th, Hamas and Israel began a new round of ceasefire negotiations in Gaza in Sharm el-Sheikh, a coastal city on the Red Sea in Egypt. The negotiations were conducted indirectly, chaired by mediators from Egypt and Qatar, and focused on "laying the foundation" for a possible exchange of Israeli detainees and Palestinian prisoners.
