Breaking-News >> WorldNews Global Media Focus | Latest Report: China continues to lead global clean energy development
On October 7, local time, Ember, the UK’s climate and energy company, released its latest global energy survey report, showing that in the first half of this year, China’s new solar and wind power plant capacity exceeded the other parts of the world combined, continuing to lead the global development of clean energy. China leads clean energy growth The report, "Global Electricity Mid-Year Insights 2025", points out that China remains the clear leader in clean energy growth. In the first half of this year, China's solar power generation growth accounted for 55% of global solar power generation growth, and wind power generation growth accounted for 82% of global growth. In the first half of this year, China's solar power generation increased by 43% year-on-year, much higher than the global average growth rate of 31% in the same period, accounting for more than 85% of China's electricity growth. The proportion of solar in China's power mix increased by more than 3% year-on-year. In terms of wind power generation, China's wind power generation increased by 16% in the first half of the year, more than twice the global average, accounting for 40% of China's power generation growth and 82% of global power generation growth. The proportion of wind power in China's power structure has also increased. In addition, in low-carbon energy, nuclear power generation has increased by 11 percent, and the contribution to global nuclear energy growth is more than 70 percent. Fossil fuel generation and emissions decrease The report shows that in the first half of 2025, China met all power growth needs through clean electricity, which reduced China's fossil-fuel power generation and emissions. Among them, coal and natural gas power generation both fell by 2%, and other fossil fuel power generation also fell. As a result, China's power industry reduced carbon dioxide emissions by 46 million tons in the first half of this year. The report also specifically pointed out that this decline in China shows more structural characteristics. Due to the increase of carbon dioxide emissions in the United States and the European Union, global fossil fuel power generation fell by less than 1% in the first half of this year. The world's first coal-fired power generation The report, titled Global Electricity Mid-Year Insights 2025, analyzes the changes in global power generation from January to June 2025 compared with the same period last year, and uses it to measure the progress of the global clean energy transition. In the just-released report, investigators analyzed the monthly electricity data of 88 countries and regions accounting for 93% of global electricity demand, and conducted an in-depth analysis of the situation of the world's four major electricity markets, including China, India, the United States and the European Union. Thanks to the strong growth of solar power generation and the growth of wind power generation, global renewable power generation will exceed coal power generation in the first half of 2025 for the first time.
