"Hiking in remote areas", foreign media: Fred Ramsdell still doesn't know how to win the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine

According to foreign media reports such as the Guardian, the Nobel Committee has so far failed to contact Fred Rumsdale, one of the Nobel prize winners in physiology or medicine in 2025 - he is on a "off the web" hiking trip to enjoy a good time.

Earlier, Sweden's Caroline Medical College announced on October 6 that it would award the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine to American scientists Mary Brunko and Fred Ramsdell and Japanese scientist Shifumi Sakaguchi in recognition of their pioneering discoveries in the mechanism of peripheral immune tolerance.

According to the report, however, because the winner was "away from the Internet", the Nobel Committee was never able to contact him and inform him of the award.

Jeffrey Brustone, a friend of Ramsdell and co-founder of his lab, said that Ramsdell was completely worthy of this honor, but he couldn't contact the other party himself. "I've been trying to contact him personally. I think he may be hiking in a remote part of Idaho," Brustone revealed to AFP.

According to the Nobel Prize announcement, the three winners made breakthrough discoveries in the field of outer immunity tolerance, Sakamoto Zhiwon discovered regulatory T cells that can effectively prevent the immune system from attacking the human body itself, and Branko and Ramsdale found related genes, which deepened the scientific community's understanding of how the immune system works and promoted research in areas such as autoimmune diseases.
