According to the U.S. Columbia Broadcasting Company (CBS), a helicopter providing air medical services crashed on the highway of Sacramento, the capital of the U.S. state of California on the evening of 6 local time.

According to officials, it is unclear whether the plane is on its way back to the local hospital or the number of people on board.

CBS said photos from the scene showed the helicopter overturned in multiple lanes and debris covered around the fuselage.
