Armed conflict in northern Syria kills four people

The Syrian state news agency on October 6 that the "Syrian Democratic Forces" led by the Syrian Kurdish armed forces launched an attack on the same day in the northern province of Aleppo, killing one Syrian security forces member and wounding three people.

Reports said that militants of the "Syria Democratic Forces" launched an attack on a checkpoint near the Sheikh Maksud neighborhood in Aleppo City, Aleppo Province that day, killing Syrian security forces. Other civilians were injured in shelling and shooting by armed men of the "Syria Democratic Forces" on the neighborhood and the Ashrafiyah neighborhood.

The "Syrian Democratic Forces" issued a statement on social media on the same day denying the attack on the relevant checkpoints. The statement accused the armed forces under the Syrian provisional authorities of trying to deploy tanks and armored vehicles to block the two neighborhoods, and attacked residential areas with shelling guns and drones, causing civilian casualties.

According to the British-based Syria Observatory for Human Rights, Sheikh Maksud and Ashrafiyah neighborhoods are currently under the control of pro-Syria Democratic Forces. On the same day, armed men of the pro-Syrian regime used heavy and medium weapons to attack the Sheikh Maksud neighborhood. Syrian security forces blocked the entrances and exits of the above two blocks that day.

The defense department of the Syrian regime issued a statement saying that the recent mobilization of Syrian regime armed forces in northern and northeastern Syria is part of the established redeployment plan, rather than launching new military operations. The regime still abides by the relevant agreements with the "Syrian * Forces" and has not adopted an offensive plan. The current task is to protect civilians and security personnel from the continuous attacks of the "Syrian * Forces".

At the end of last year, the armed forces led by Ahmed Saleh announced the “liberation of Damascus and the overthrow of the Assad regime”, followed by the formation of a transitional administrative department and the “Syrian Democratic Forces” led by the Kurdish armed “People’s Protection Forces”, which now control large parts of northern and eastern Syria. In March this year, the “Syrian Democratic Forces” signed an agreement with the Syrian provisional authorities to agree to integrate into the state institutions, but the agreement was not implemented smoothly.
