Trump: ‘Rebellion’ is happening in Portland, Oregon

On October 6, local time, US President Trump said in an interview with US media Newsmax that what is happening in Portland, Oregon, USA is a "rebellion", the local crime rate has soared, and he is trying to deploy the National Guard to the city.

Earlier on the 6th, Trump revealed to reporters at the White House that he might invoke the Rebellion Act promulgated in 1792 to deal with the Portland incident. It is understood that this law allows the military to directly participate in civil law enforcement, but it has been rarely applied in recent years.

US President Trump announced on September 27th that he would send troops to Portland, which is ruled by the Democratic Party, to deal with "domestic terrorists". Secretary of Defense ("Secretary of War") Hegseth sent a memorandum to Oregon Governor Tina Kottke on September 28, authorizing 200 Oregon National Guard members to perform federal functions for 60 days, including "protecting federal property that is or may be threatened by protests." Subsequently, Oregon and Portland jointly sued the federal government in an attempt to prevent the National Guard from entering. Federal District Judge Karin Immergut of Oregon issued a two-week temporary restraining order on October 4th, blocking the Trump administration's plan to send 200 National Guard personnel to Portland, the state.
