On January 16, 1986, Bernoz and Mueller, scientists at the U.S. International Commercial Machinery Corporation Laboratory in Zurich, Switzerland, after more than three years of hard work, discovered a type of copper oxide that began to occur at 35K. This was a historic breakthrough and sparked a new culmination in superconducting research. In October 1987, Bernoz and Mueller won the Nobel Prize in Physics.
