On January 17, 1927, Mrs. Juliet Love, founder of the Girl Scouts of America, died in Savannah, Georgia, at the age of 67. In 1911, Mrs. Love held consultations with Ms. Baden-Powell, the founder of the British Girl Scouts. The following year, Mrs. Love recruited 18 girls to form the Girl Scouts. By 1927, the number of Girl Scouts in the United States had grown to 167925. Mrs. Love lived a miserable life because of her unhappy marriage, so she encouraged girls to be talented.
