On January 1, 1934, Chiang Kai-shek's Central Army launched a general attack on the Fujian People's Revolutionary Army. Seven divisions, including Jiang Dingwen of the Second Route Army, Zhang Zhizhong of the Fourth Route Army, and Wei Lihuang of the Fifth Route Army, were dispatched from Shunchang, Jian 'ou and Pingnan respectively to form a Pin-shaped formation in Yanping, Shuikou and Gutian to advance. At the same time, the Marine Corps was sent to attack Xiamen. On the 5th, the two sides fought fiercely in Yanping and Gutian areas. On the 6th, Chiang's army captured Yanping. On the 10th, Chiang's Marine Corps occupied Xiamen. On the 12th, Jiang's army occupied Gutian. On the 15th, the Fujian People's Revolutionary Army all evacuated Fuzhou and retreated to Quanzhou. On the 16th, Chiang's army occupied Fuzhou. On the 21st, generals Shen Guanghan, Mao Weishou, Qu Shounian, Zhang Yan and others of the 19th Route Army surrendered to the Central Army and separated from the Fujian People's Government by electricity. On the 22nd, Jiang Dingwen, commander-in-chief of the East Route Army, planned to gather the 19th Route Army in Putian, Fuqing, and Hui 'an to wait for reorganization. The battalion commander and above left the army, and the rest were taken into custody. On the 30th, Chiang Kai-shek appointed Mao Weishou and Zhang Yan as the chief and deputy commanders of the Seventh Route Army of the East Route Army to command their troops. The 19th Route Army was officially cancelled, Cai Tingkai and others were forced to flee to Hong Kong, and the Fujian People's Government failed.
