On January 16, 1984, the 4th Assembly of the Heads of Islamic States was held in Casablanca, Morocco.

The conference decided to restore Egypt¡¯s membership to the Organization of Islamic Conferences. Egypt was expelled from the Organization of Islamic Conferences after Egypt and Israel signed a peace treaty in 1979. On the 30th of the same month, the President of Munich announced that Egypt accepted the invitation to return to the organization.
