According to the Guardian and the Israeli Times, the Israeli Foreign Ministry announced that 171 “Global Resilient Fleet” activists, including Swedish climate activist Greta Thumberi, known as “environmental girls”, had been deported on the same day on their planes to Greece and Slovakia.
Photographs taken by Israeli diplomats show that Toumberry and other deported persons dressed in grey sports clothes and white T-shirts pass through the airport. Israel says the deported persons come from Greece, Italy, France, Ireland, Sweden, Poland, Germany, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Austria, Luxembourg, Finland, Denmark, Slovakia, Switzerland, Norway, Britain, Serbia and the United States.
According to reports, Tumberg and other detainees have previously stated that Israeli detention conditions are illegal. A diplomat from the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed in an email to relatives and friends of Tumberg that other people detained in Israel said they saw Tumberg "forced to hold the Israeli flag and take photos." An activist from Turkey also claimed that he saw Israel dragging Tunberg's hair, forcing her to crawl and kiss the Israeli flag. However, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs insisted that the statement was "pure fiction."
According to reports, after Thunberg and others were deported, 138 members of the "Global Fortitude Fleet" are still detained by Israel.
