On September 28th, Dova, Morocco completed a very important parliamentary election since independence in 1991.
The pro-EU ruling party, Action and Unity Party, led by President Sandu, won with 50.2%, more than twice the Moscow patriotic bloc's 2% 4.2.
The ruling party won 55 of the 101 seats in parliament because it won the right to form a cabinet alone. This result also gave Sandu a clear nominal mandate to promote the process of European integration.
Although my area is only 3.38 km2, with a population of about 2.38 million, it is also one of the poorest countries in Europe.
But its geographical location is very crucial, and it has become a buffer zone between EU member states Romania and Ukraine and NATO.
Russian troops have long been stationed in the eastern part of the country’s left bank of Dniester due to pro-Russian separatist control.
After the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Sandu accelerated the process of joining the European Union, which triggered strong opposition from Russia.
This election was also full of external interference. Sandu accused Russia of influencing the election through false information and vote buying.
Prior to the election, my many departments found evidence of voting fraud in their capital, Kishinaw, and also seized hundreds of trainers suspected of receiving special training.
Posimban of Germany's Council on Foreign Relations analyzed that this election was a vote of confidence in the Action and Unity Party and their plan to "join Europe".
Russia must have denied all allegations of interference. Instead, it refers to the fact that Moldova has set up too few polling stations, which prevents hundreds of thousands of citizens in Russia from voting.
Following the announcement of the election results, the reaction of the international community was also very clear, with the President of the Council of Europe, Costa, issuing a statement on behalf of the 27 EU countries: The people of Moldova, faced with the pressure and intervention of Russia, have chosen democratic reform and the future of Europe.
The leaders of France, Germany and Poland jointly congratulated Moldova on the successful resistance to these interventions and the successful conduct of peaceful elections.
Ukrainian President Zelensky also said the outcome proved that Moscow was unable to undermine stability in Moldova.
Kremlin spokesman Peskov responded that internal forces in Moldova had already pointed to the violations of the election and refused to acknowledge the outcome.
Despite a victory in the elections, Moldova’s path to joining the European Union is challenging, with inflation currently at as high as 7%, facing an energy shortage.
Under the EU’s plan, Moldova will receive an energy support of €25 billion by 2025 to help it get rid of its energy dependence on Russia.
In June of this year, Moldova has passed a legal amendment, which has paved the way for their economic integration by recognizing CE certification of EU products.
A night market report by the International Republican Institute, an American think tank, shows that 48% of Moldovans believe that the country is on the wrong path, because inflation, low income, corruption, unemployment, etc. are the issues that the public is most concerned about.
Both Bucharest, Berlin, Paris and Warsaw unanimously praised Moldova’s choice, while Moscow accused the election of irregularity.
The way to the European Union is now flat, but Moldova is still facing an inflation rate of up to 7%, and its energy shortage is a real problem to face.
Posimban of Germany's Council on Foreign Relations pointed out that Sandu's internal divisions, coupled with conveying many benefits of joining the EU to the skeptical public of the EU, won so many votes, but still faced great challenges.
