Breaking-News >> WorldNews "EU-China Cooperation Has Broad Space"--Interview with Fei Kedi, Representative of the University of Technology of Madrid in China
"During my stay in China, I visited almost all top universities in various provinces to promote exchanges and discuss cooperation. China is developing and changing too fast. Europe needs to better understand China to truly achieve win-win results." Fei Kedi, representative of the University of Technology of Madrid in China, said in an exclusive interview with this reporter,"Europe and China can give full play to their respective advantages and work together to promote the upgrading of cooperation in science and technology, education, industry and other fields." Fei Kedi is a well-known economist and engineering professor in Spain. He has been working in Shanghai, China since 2014. He has been teaching in China for more than 10 years. He has served as the foreign dean of the School of Chinese and Western Sciences at Tongji University. Fei Kedi said that Tongji University has witnessed the deepening of EU-China cooperation. Relevant departments of European countries such as France, Italy, and Spain have established in-depth cooperative relations with top universities in China. "Universities are like 'private embassies'. Even in an increasingly complex international situation, EU-China higher education cooperation has not been interrupted. EU-China higher education cooperation not only jointly improves the level of international scientific research, but also enhances young people's understanding of each other's culture and provides favorable conditions for the implementation of more cooperation projects in the future." Fei Kedi believes that EU-China scientific research cooperation is now more pragmatic, more down-to-earth and deeper. A few years ago, the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology of China Academy of Sciences, the Shanghai Center for Plant Stress Biology of China Academy of Sciences and the Spanish Center for Plant Biotechnology and Genome jointly established the "Joint Center for Plant and Environment Interaction" to explore sustainable agricultural development and food security issues around genetic improvement technology. The research and development of technology in response to real needs has opened up a broader perspective for China-European higher education cooperation. Ferguson and many Central-European colleagues have worked together to facilitate the smooth launch of the Ferguson Venture Valley project and help the incubation of entrepreneurial projects at home and abroad in China. Ferguson introduced that a Spanish student of engineering at Ferguson University was inspired by the rapid development of the Chinese electric car industry, and through Ferguson Venture Valley established a start-up associated with new energy car engines and was favoured by the Spanish automobile software company Cabify. The project has not only achieved success in the market, but also achieved multiple breakthroughs in technology, business models and market operations. “Shanghai is at the forefront of China’s opening-up to the outside world. At Zhengzhou University, I have participated in the reception of research groups from Europe. Whether it’s in German industrial enterprises in China, French pharmaceutical enterprises in China, or companies from the Netherlands and the Nordic countries, they want to work with China and have a place in the Chinese market.” Fei Di said that the double-degree program between Europe and China, joint scientific research cooperation, business incubation and technology docking have all created an important foundation for the cooperation between the two sides. "As an educator, I hope to help European middle school students have a broader international vision and become a solid force for future EU-China cooperation."
