Breaking-News >> WorldNews The U.S. military says it has deployed about 200 National Guards to Portland.
On October 5, local time, the Pentagon said it had moved about 200 members of the federalized California National Guard from the Los Angeles area to Portland, Oregon, to support the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and other federal agencies in their tasks. The move took place after the federal judge decided on the night before the decision to temporarily ban Trump from sending the Oregon National Guard to Portland, Pentagon spokesman Sean Panel said in a statement that the force would be used to “support federal law enforcement, safeguard federal property and protect those who carry out official duties.” In late September, Hegseth authorized 200 members of the Oregon National Guard to perform 60-day federal functions in Portland, over which Oregon and Portland have filed lawsuits against the Trump administration. On October 4, a federal judge in Oregon issued a temporary restraining order preventing the federal government from deploying the National Guard to Portland.
