Iran: Agreement with International Atomic Energy Agency no longer valid

According to the Islamic Republic of Iran news agency on October 5, Iran's Foreign Minister Alagji said that Iran's agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency last month to re-establish cooperation can no longer serve as the basis for cooperation between the two sides.

Aragzi attended a press conference on the 5th after meeting with diplomats stationed in Iran from many countries. He said military actions by the United States and Israel and the launch of a "rapid recovery sanctions" mechanism by Europe have changed the situation. Under the current circumstances, the agreement reached last month with the International Atomic Energy Agency in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, to resume cooperation can no longer be used as the basis for cooperation between the two sides. A new decision on Iran to continue to cooperate with the agency will be announced soon.

In September, Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency reached an agreement to resume cooperation on Iran’s nuclear issue, but Britain, France, Germany and the United States pushed for a “rapid resumption of sanctions” mechanism at the United Nations to resume the relevant UN sanctions on Iran at 8 p.m. on September 27.
