Interview 丨 Global Governance Initiative is an important step towards building a more equitable international system-Interview with Turkish international economic expert Akbulut

Xinhua News Agency, Ankara, October 4th exclusive interview| The Global Governance Initiative is an important step towards building a more equitable international system-Interview with Turkish international economic expert Akbulut

Newspaper reporter Wang Teng Fly.

Turkish Global Advisory Group President and international economic expert Kirsim Akbulut recently said in an interview with Xinhua news agency in Ankara that China’s global governance initiative is an important step towards building a fairer and more balanced international system.

The emerging economies such as China, India, Brazil and Turkey have now become the core drivers of global growth, but their representation in the decision-making mechanisms of major international organizations remains limited. In the face of global challenges, necessary reforms are needed to enable the global governance system to better formulate effective responses to jointly address challenges and to balance the interests of developed and developing countries.

Acapulte believes that the Global Governance Initiative is closely linked to the Belt and Road Initiative. The Belt and Road Initiative provides the infrastructure needed for interconnection, while the Global Governance Initiative establishes institutional and regulatory frameworks to ensure that these links are based on mutual benefit and win-win.

Speaking of global governance and multilateralism, Akblute said that the global governance architecture established after World War II must be adapted to the multi-polar reality of today’s world. Reforming global governance is critical to rebuilding confidence in multilateralism, while also ensuring that economies work effectively together to address challenges. A more representative and responsive global governance system will help strengthen international cooperation and enhance global capacity to address urgent issues such as climate change, terrorism, conflict, global health security, financial stability, migration, hunger and illegal trafficking.

Responding to recent U.S. tariff initiatives, Akblute said U.S. protectionist measures, as the world’s largest economy, have a big impact on countries that have close trade ties with them. These countries may be forced to reduce production or shift exports to other markets, which will bring new challenges.

She believes that the continued change in U.S. tariff decisions brings great uncertainty to producers, exporters, importers and investors, and that this uncertainty, along with the lack of multilateral solutions, undermines trust in institutions such as the World Trade Organization and undermines the credibility of rules-based systems.
