Trump authorized the deployment of 300 National Guards in Illinois, the governor responded: Aggression, outrageous!

According to National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) local time on 4 November, U.S. President Donald Trump has authorized the deployment of 300 National Guard troops in Illinois.

White House spokesman Abigail Jackson said in a statement: “In the context of continued violent riots and chaos, regional leaders like Illinois Governor Pritzke refused to intervene to calm the situation, and President Trump has authorized the deployment of 300 National Guard personnel to protect federal officials and assets.”

Pritzke said on Thursday that the Trump administration had informed him that the Department of Defense plans to impose federalized control on 300 National Guard soldiers and to send them to Illinois.

"This behavior is absolutely outrageous and contrary to the American spirit." Pritzker revealed that defense officials had given him an ultimatum to "mobilize troops" or action would be taken.

“I want to be clear: Illinois does not need ground forces,” Pritzker added, “I will not mobilize the National Guard to encourage aggression against our people.”

On August 11, Trump announced that he would send a National Guard to help restore order and security in Washington, D.C., while calling Democratic-hosted cities like Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Baltimore and Auckland “problematic cities”. Trump repeatedly said he would send a National Guard to Chicago and Memphis. On September 6, Trump wrote on social media that he once again threatened to “send troops” to Chicago, the largest city in Illinois, saying he would let Chicago know why the Defense Ministry is “called a ministry of war.” Democratic Chicago Mayor Johnson and Illinois State Mayor Pritzke have repeatedly expressed opposition.

On September 28, local time, fully-armed U.S. federal agents began patrolling downtown Chicago, Illinois, the latest upgrade of immigration law enforcement operations in Chicago after Trump announced he would send troops to Portland. Hundreds of law enforcement and border patrols carried out "midway operations" in downtown Chicago.
