Mutharika sworn in as President of Malawi

On October 4, local time, Malawi's President-elect Arthur Peter Mutharika was sworn in for a five-year term.

Malawi held a "three-in-one" election for president, parliament and local government on September 16. Malawi's Election Commission announced the results of the presidential election in the capital Lilongwe on September 24. Former Malawi President and leader of the Democratic Progressive Party Mutharika won.

Muratika, 85, served as President of Malawi from 2014 to 2020.
