The American Bolivarian Alliance issued a statement on October 3, strongly condemning the “illegal invasion” of U.S. fighter jets into the airspace near Venezuela, calling it a “clear violation of Venezuela’s sovereignty and international law.” U.S. military harassment is part of its pattern of aggression, intended to undermine regional stability, create divisions and impose intimidation.The American Bolivarian Alliance reiterates its commitment to safeguarding peace in Latin America and the Caribbean region and calls on international organizations to publicly condemn this policy of military provocation that threatens regional security and stability. Such actions violate not only the sovereignty of the alliance member states, but also threaten the civil and commercial aviation security of the Caribbean region and pose an unacceptable risk to regional stability.Latin America and the Caribbean region do not accept as foreign military operations zones, do not accept any form of external interference, and will resolutely safeguard peace and independence. The United States has recently strengthened its military deployment in Latin America and the Caribbean.The United States has deployed at least eight warships and one nuclear-powered rapid-attack submarine in the Caribbean with more than 4,500 troops.The United States has also recently sent several F-35B invisible fighters to its overseas territory, Puerto Rico. The Bolivarian Alliance of the Americas, formerly known as the Bolivarian Alternative Plan of the Americas, was established in Havana, Cuba, in 2004, aiming at strengthening economic and trade cooperation and integration among countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. In June 2009, the organization changed its name to Bolivarian Alliance for the Americas. At present, the member countries of the alliance include Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua and other 10 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.
