Breaking-News >> WorldNews Immediate, unconditional and complete abolition of unilateral coercive measures
In a joint speech at the Third Committee of the United Nations General Assembly on unilateral coercive measures, China's permanent representative to the United Nations, Fu Qing, said on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the United Nations, the international community must remain awake, strengthen solidarity and cooperation, and resolutely curb this illegal behavior. At present, unilateralism is widespread, the law of the jungle is overwhelming, and unilateral coercive measures are widespread. History has proven that unilateral coercive measures are one of the culprits of causing international turmoil and disrupting world order. Developing countries and their people continue to suffer the negative effects of unilateral coercive measures. These unilateral coercive measures violate the principles of sovereign equality and cooperation, interfere with the internal affairs of others, violate the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations, and are contrary to multilateralism and international law. Fu Cong pointed out that the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development emphasizes that all countries enjoy development dividends equally, and strongly urges all countries not to promulgate or implement any unilateral economic, financial or trade measures that are inconsistent with international law and the Charter of the United Nations. Regrettably, despite the international community's call for the immediate lifting of unilateral coercive measures, these illegal measures continue to have devastating and even fatal consequences for the target countries and their people, even endangering lives. Unilateral coercive measures, as well as secondary sanctions and excessive compliance, aggravate the current humanitarian and economic challenges, seriously affect the stability of global production and supply chains, as well as food, energy and financial security, and seriously undermine the global economic order and the efforts of relevant countries to achieve sustainable development goals. efforts made. In addition, unilateral coercive measures seriously violate basic human rights, including the right to life, health, development and education, and hinder the ability of target countries to realize these human rights. We are concerned that unilateral coercive measures and excessive compliance restrict the ability of affected countries to access foreign investment and technology, hindering international cooperation in the fields of culture, arts, sports, tourism, human exchanges and transport, including civil aviation. We welcome the Ministerial Declaration of the Group of 77 and China 2025, which reaffirms the implementation of unilateral coercive measures against developing countries, including unilateral sanctions, which do not contribute to economic and social development, as well as inter-national dialogue and understanding. We emphasize the declarations and communications of the Non-Allied Movement on the condemnation and implementation of unilateral coercive measures, including those used as instruments of political or economic pressure on any country, especially developing countries. Fu Cong said that we reiterate our opposition to unilateral coercive measures and call on a few Western countries to listen to the just voice of the international community, implement their commitments to abide by the United Nations Charter and international law, and immediately, unconditionally and completely cancel unilateral coercive measures. We also call on Member States, the United Nations system and other international organizations to provide support to sanctioned countries to help them alleviate their difficulties. Under the current circumstances, we should strengthen unity and assistance, oppose confrontation and division, jointly respond to global challenges, and promote and protect human rights for all.
