Qatar welcomes Hamas agreement to release Israeli detainees

Qatar's Foreign Ministry spokesman Anshari said on October 4 that Qatar welcomed the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas)'s response to the U.S. "20-point plan" on ending the Gaza conflict, including statements of willingness to release Israeli detainees and bodies.

Anshari said in a statement on social media that Qatar supported U.S. President Donald Trump’s call for an immediate ceasefire, as it would help to secure and quickly release detainees, ending the bloodshed conflict in the Gaza Strip, saying that Qatar had begun to work with mediators such as Egypt and coordinate with the United States to continue discussions on peace plans in Gaza to ensure that the road was paved for the end of the war.

Hamas said in a statement on Wednesday night that it agreed in principle to release all Israeli detainees and bodies under the "20 Points Plan" exchange and expressed its willingness to immediately negotiate through mediators to discuss the details of implementation.
