Hamas releases hostages in Gaza to respond to Trump’s “20-point plan”

On the evening of October 3 local time, Hamas issued a statement announcing that it had submitted a response to Trump's "20-point plan" to the mediator and expressed its willingness to negotiate through the mediator to implement the relevant plans.

Hamas said that in order to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and Israel's full withdrawal from the Gaza Strip,The group agreed to release all Israeli hostages, as proposed by Trump, and hand over the bodies of the victims, provided that the necessary conditions for the exchange were met.In this context, Hamas is willing to negotiate immediately through mediators to discuss the specifics of this process.

Hamas said,Agree to transfer the management of the Gaza Strip to an independent Palestinian institution (technocratic body)。 Other issues in Trump's proposal related to the future of the Gaza Strip and the inherent rights of the Palestinian people will be discussed within the Palestinian national framework, and Hamas will also participate in it and make a responsible contribution to it.

On the evening of the 3rd, Hamas Politburo member Musa Abu Marzuk said in an interview that the top priority is to stop the war and killing. From this perspective, Hamas responded positively to Trump's "20-point plan". He also said that the handover of the remains of Israeli living hostages and victims within 72 hours is only theoretical and unrealistic under the current circumstances.

A senior Hamas official, citing Reuters, said Hamas would not disarm until Israel ended its occupation.

Earlier on the 3rd, US President Trump posted on social media "Real Social" that Hamas must accept the agreement before 18: 00 EST on Sunday, October 5th. If an agreement is not reached, Hamas "will suffer an unprecedented hellish blow." Trump called this plan Hamas's "last chance". Trump also urged the immediate release of all hostages and the remains of the victims.

Trump met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on September 29 and announced that Israel accepted the "20-point plan." According to White House documents, the "20-point plan" requires Hamas to release all detainees within 72 hours after Israel publicly accepts the plan; Israel allows international humanitarian aid to enter Gaza after all hostages are released; Gaza is temporarily managed by the Technical Expert Committee under international supervision; Gaza launches the demilitarization process, Hamas disarms and is not allowed to participate in Gaza's governance; Israel sets up a buffer zone in Gaza and withdraws its troops in phases. However, the plan does not set a clear and binding timetable for a comprehensive Israeli withdrawal, and many conditions have been rejected by Hamas before.
